The .UK zone files

Introduction

The zone file is available to all and contains files for the .uk, .co.uk, .org.uk, .me.uk, .ltd.uk, .plc.uk, .net.uk and .sch.uk zones, subject to standard licence terms.

We will also provide a list of all domains currently registered with Nominet. This will include domains that are suspended, or do not have nameservers attached and are therefore not included in zone files.

How to apply

Members can find the ‘Zone File Signup’ application form under the ‘Account Settings’ section within Online Services.

If you are not a Nominet member, to request access to the .UK zone files please email [email protected] with the following information:

• Company name (if applicable)
• Individual/Contact Name
• Full Postal Address
• Email Address
• Confirm that you accept the terms and conditions of the Zone File Access Licence
• Full reason for request and intended use of the data

After we have received this information, we will ask you to confirm your identity using an online identity checking service. We will send you an email with a link to complete the identification checks. More information on this can be found on the Nominet website.

Please note, once your application has been processed and accepted, you will receive an email from Files.com ([email protected]), rather than Nominet, with your account details and further instructions.

How to cancel

To cancel your access to the zone files, please inform us by sending either a secure message from your Online Services account or email [email protected] from the account which has access to the zone file. Access to the zone files will be terminated if the licence is breached.

Methods

You can download the .UK zone files via a web interface or SFTP. Instructions are available once you gain access to the service.

Fees

The service is currently provided free of charge.
