.UK Registry (Future state)

Please bookmark this page – it is the landing page for all future updates on the transition of the .UK registry to the new RSP platform.

.UK Legacy platform

The .UK Registry currently operates on our legacy platform; we have announced that we will move .UK to our Registry Services Provider (RSP) platform in 2026.  To find out current information about the legacy platform please use the UK namespace section of registrar resources.

This area of registrar resources will document the upcoming features and policies for .uk on our more modern RSP platform; planned transition will be in 2026.

[NEW] Unavailable names report now available

We have now released the unavailable names report and the following guidance:

[NEW] FEEDbACK REQUESTED

At this time we have put together two product papers outlining some technical implementation that we wish to have some feedback from registrars, please note wider documentation is in the works. Please provide feedback to our technical implementation product papers, let us know if we have missed any key elements we need to cover:

(please note you have until Wednesday 9th July to submit your feedback)

  1. Legacy .UK to new .UK transition lifecycle treatment.
  2. EPP Status product paper

STAND BY: consultation incoming

Calendar Q3 2025 – date to be confirmed.

We have been working on updating the Registry-Registrar Agreement and all related policies to ensure they are compatible with the new policies that were consulted on last year. We have taken the opportunity to do some limited modernisation and we will be consulting very soon.

In the meantime we have published the current drafts of policies that were consulted on last year on the new .UK policies page here.

TESTBED and OT&E RELEASE 1.

Available: Calendar Q3 2025 – date to be confirmed.

The first release will include an upgraded version of our RSP EPP environment with RFC9154 included. This fundamentally means that transfer authorisation codes will be transient and last for a maximum of 15-days and be auto-expired by the registry system.

We will provide technical documentation in time for the release.

TESTBED AND OT&E RELEASE 2.

Available: Calendar Q4 2025 – date to be confirmed.

We will have a second release of the new .uk RSP OT&E testbed which brings with it additional EPP functionality.

  • EPP Status reason update.
  • RFC8543 and RFC8544 updates – for those registrars who have resellers or seek to comply with a privacy/proxy service implementation we will have a second release of EPP testbed which will include Organisation RFCs RFC8543 and RFC8544.
  • An upgrade of our EPP Fee extension to be compliant with RFC8748.  As .uk only has one price point per zone, the primary benefit and use case is to ensure your systems have visibility of your outstanding balance and credit limit on your account.

Transition DAY

Calendar Q2 2026.

Please review the proposed transition day lifecycle changes and provide feedback.

The go-live of .UK on our modern Registry Services Platform will be a point of time switch over between platforms and we expect to make that switch approximately 6 months after the second testbed release to enable registrars time for their resellers to integrate.
