Unavailable Names Report

Registries which support the supply of an ‘Unavailable names report’, follow this common standard reporting.


Unavailable names reports can be utilised by registrars for the following purposes:

  1. continuing to take orders during maintenance windows with a higher degree of certainty of fulfilment when maintenance completes.
  2. ensure your domain name suggestion spinners do not suggest names that are not available.
  3. increase the speed of response on availability check in that registry.

suffixThis includes the suffix the domain is registered in. (e.g. ‘uk’ or ‘co.uk’ or ‘wales’).
domainFull domain name. (e.g. ‘example.uk’)  
statusOne of:  

  • “REGISTERED” if a domain is currently registered.

  • “REGISTERED – ADD PERIOD” if a domain is registered but in the RFC3915 add period.

  • “REGISTERED – MAY DROP” if a domain is in a pending delete state with RFC3915 redemption period.

  • “DROP” – if a domain is pending delete state with RFC3915 pending delete grace period.

  • “REGISTRY RESERVED” – if a domain is currently reserved and unable to be registered.
timeAll times are reported in ISO format in UTC.
If the domain is in RFC3915 add period, the time at which the add period will expire.
If the domain is in RFC3915 redemption period or pending delete period, the time at which the domain may or will become available for re-registration
Otherwise the field will be empty.
Unavailable names reports are generated daily.

Unavailable names reports are exclusively available to registrars accredited with the particular registry and must not be published or utilised for any reason other than to promote and market potentially available names for sale.
