Registry Fee Extension for EPP

The Nominet Registry Services Provider platform supports EPP Fee extension to help registrars:

1. keep track of their account balance and credit limit.
2. manage domains with a non-standard (or premium) pricing policy and prevent revenue leakage for registrars.

We will shortly turn on RFC8748 version of the EPP Fee extension across all registries and recommend that you transition your implementation to utilise the RFC8748 version of the EPP Fee extension as we will sunset the older versions in the coming months.

Usage

Command	Description
Check	Allows you to check the price to create, renew, transfer or restore a domain.
Create	Allows you to confirm the expected price to the registry and the registry to validate it and confirm your account balance and credit limit after completion of the transaction.

In addition to the price, the response returned by a fee:check, will have a fee:class element with one of the following values:

fee:class	Meaning	Notes
premium	The domain has a non-standard domain specific pricing policy. That price may be higher or lower than standard pricing.	Domains with this setting may have a different pricing for any one type of transaction. The fee extension may be used to confirm the pricing.
standard	The domain uses the default pricing policy.	All Domains with this setting inherit the default prices for each type of transaction.  The fee extension can be used to confirm the pricing.

Account Balance and Credit limit

For registries which have billing attached, we include the registrar’s account balance and total credit limit if there is one as defined in the specifications.

Phases and Sub-phases supported

In the fee extension you can specify the phase you are seeking the price for; the phases are specified as follows.

If no phase is specified in the fee:check request then prices will default to the current phase.  When using the phase “claims”, the “subphase” element must be provided and must be set to one of the options above.

Registrar accreditation configuration

As a default we configure all registrar accreditations to be able to create non-standard priced domains but that to do so the submitted command must confirm the non-standard price.
