2nd April 2024 -– Planned Essential Maintenance

On Tuesday 2nd April essential maintenance will be taking place from 14:00 – 16:00 UTC +1 (BST). The following services will be unavailable during this time:

UK and gTLD:

  • Operational Test & Evaluation (OT&E)
  • Testbed

gTLD platform nameservers and host objects

Nominet’s gTLD platform currently utilises trailing dots on host objects and where they appear as nameservers. On a review of RFC5731, section 2.1 it states: “The trailing dot required when these names are stored in a DNS zone is implicit and MUST NOT be provided when exchanging host and domain names.”.

During this maintenance window we will amend our implementation in our gTLD testbed environment to not return the trailing dot. The Production and OT&E environments will remain as today and will be amended at a later date.

Any unusual behaviour from our systems following this work should be reported to our customer support team on (0)330 236 9480 or via [email protected].
