10th May 2022 – .UK and gTLD EPP Password Expiry

As part of our ongoing Security Programme, we are strengthening our password requirements across our registries.

What is changing?

EPP passwords of less than 14 characters will be expired.

When is it changing?

EPP passwords of less than 14 characters will expire on 2022-05-10.

What systems does this affect?

Both .UK and gTLD EPP passwords with less than 14 characters will be expired. If your EPP password does not meet this requirement, from 2022-05-10 you will no longer be able to access .UK and gTLD EPP.

My password is under 14 characters, how do I update it?

You can update your EPP passwords in the following ways:

You can update your .UK EPP password via Online Services, then:

  • Choose “Tag settings” then choose “EPP Live” – if you have more than one TAG choose the tag to edit from the right-hand side. Enter your new password and submit.

You can update your gTLD EPP password via Online Services, then:

  • Select the registry account for the TLD you need to update.
  • Choose “gTLD EPP settings”, choose the TLD you need to update from the right-hand side. Enter your new password and submit.
