.UK OT&E and Testbed data set.

This page relates to the future .UK testbed on testbed-uk.epp.nominet.uk and not the legacy platform. OT&E has not, yet, launched.

Objects existing in the live registry, such as domains, hosts and contacts, are not replicated in the OT&E or testbed environments.

Registrar Accreditations in OT&E and Testbed

In each test environment, each registrar accreditation has two test accreditations:

  1. CLID username matches the production username.
  2. Second CLID username in order that you can test transfers:
    1. If the CLID has less than 16 characters, the cloned CLID is the same as the original with trailing ‘_’. For example, if the CLID is ‘EXAMPLE’, the cloned CLID is ‘EXAMPLE_’.
    2. If the CLID has 16 characters, the final character has been replaced with a ‘_’. For example, if the CLID is ‘EXAMPLE-WITH-16C’, the cloned CLID is ‘EXAMPLE-WITH-16_’.
  3. For launch; the primary CLID that matches production will be set to act as auto-delete at the point of auto-renew completion; and the second CLID will be set to auto-renew at the point of auto-renew completion. Note: At a later date both registrars will match the registrars chosen preference when that becomes available. For the cloned CLID domains/hosts including the CLID the _ will be replaced with a 1.

All information in the testbed will be fictional. A set of domains will be created on each CLID covering a variety of different states.

The dataset is reset daily .

For each of the test domains listed below [CLID] will be replaced with a CLID of your accreditations. [TLD] will be for the TLD that is represented in the testbed.

Each of the domain objects will be linked to specified Host and Contact objects.

The domains are named after mythical dragons.

  • EPP fee extension will be on for the .uk registry.
  • For each Domain, Host, Contact or Organisation object that get loaded by test data a ‘Domain created’, ‘Host created’, ‘Contact created’ or ‘Organisation created’ EPP notification will exist as if they had been generated by DDM. These can be used to populate your test system with the days data.
    • The created times will be at a lifecycle appropriate time in relation to the requirements of that test.
    • All domains/contacts will have no auth code set by default as per RFC9154; to attempt to transfer a domain a registrar must first set an auth code.

Nameservers: ns1.amaru-[clid].[TLD]

ns1.nominetdns.uk
ns2.nominetdns.wales
ns3.nominetdns.[TLD]
Includes a sub-ordinate nameserver ns1.amaru-[clid].[TLD] with glue record which prevents the deletion of the domain. The primary CLID will be set to auto-delete at the end of the auto-renew period. This is an edge case that forces auto-renewal of the domain if the sub-ordinate host is not deleted by the end of the auto-renew grace period. The secondary CLID will be set to auto-renew at the end of the auto-renew period.

These 3 test cases document the scenario that a registrar has transferred in a domain and needs to be able to handle the related data.We recommend the use of the LOC postal address but support either form or both. It’s important that registrars handle the data on transfer in appropriately as other registrars may use a different set of fields to yourselves. The utilisation of Japanese in the LOC field name is to ensure registrars can test the usage of UTF8 character sets in incoming contact objects.
