June Communiqué sets out a programme for evolving the .uk namespace
We are today announcing a programme designed to help us work with stakeholders to secure the future of the .uk namespace as an attractive, safe and trusted online home - in the face of a rapidly changing internet and domain name landscape.
The latest communiqué from the June Board Meeting, which outlines the steps approved by the Board, has been published and a press release provides some further information.
The key points are:
- A revised proposal for opening up registrations at the second level of .uk will form the basis of a second direct.uk consultation launching in July. We have responded to feedback and suggestions by making significant changes to the original proposal.
- A commitment to enhance security across the namespace.
- A consultation will launch later this week on a new Registrar Agreement which recognises the part that all registrars can play in raising standards.
- Proposed changes to our governance, aimed at putting in place an improved Board structure for the long-term, will be put to the membership vote at this year’s AGM.
Members of the Board also explain more about our plans in this short video.
The programme aims to ensure we can continue to invest in, and deliver, an excellent service, improved security, higher standards, and play our part in supporting a strong digital economy.
Over the next few weeks there will be a series of announcements with more detailed information and explaining how members can contribute.
