.cymru and .wales update

The countdown to .cymru and .wales begins following delegation

ICANN has now delegated both .cymru and .wales, introducing them into Domain Name System for the first time. The new extensions are not yet available for registration, but will be coming online in the next few weeks.

The first phase of our launch process begins on 1 September with a sunrise period for registered trademark holders who have registered with ICANN's Trademark Clearing House.

Backing for the new domain names has already come from a host of organisations that will be the first to switch including; the Welsh Government, S4C, , the National Assembly for Wales, The Scarlets rugby team, Sport Wales, the Federation of Small Businesses Wales, and the Arts Council for Wales.

.cymru and .wales test environment now available

An operational test and evaluation (OT&E) environment for .cymru and .wales is now available.

This system will provide a safe database for registrars to test their systems without affecting the ‘live’ registry.

Don’t forget to sign up to the registry/registrar Agreement for .cymru/ .wales

ICANN accredited registrars who plan to offer .cymru/.wales that should sign up to the registry/registrar agreement as soon as possible.
