Nominet Data Quality Update

Formal notice of new Data Quality Policy

We have today issued formal notice that the new Data Quality Policy will be introduced on 7 May 2014.

We believe having good data is an important part of ensuring that the UK name space is a trusted and safe space and the new policy sets out how registrars can help us improve our data quality.

In support of this and following a consultation, we published an approved version of the policy on 30 January 2014.

The new policy and further information can be found on our website.

WHOIS validation

Following the introduction of the Data Quality Policy on 7 May 2014, the data validation status of the registrant contact details will be published on the WHOIS for every domain on our register.

The data validation output will be shown stating that the registrant contact details have either been validated by Nominet or the registrar with the date of validation, or that the contact details are awaiting validation.

This text will be published below the registrant’s address details or below the service address where this is required for second level .uk domains.

Further information can be found on page 11 of the supporting notes.
